![]() ![]() USA (04 August 2022) – The North American tour of Disney’s The Lion King recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and South Africans are stealing the show! It is a fun, family-oriented show that parents should consider for their children who may not have spent much time exposed to musical theater.The talented South African cast members of The Lion King are flying our flag so high! The stage show keeps the core elements of the movie, adding in original songs, but the use of props and the way that the actors portray their animal characters that make this musical a must-watch for the entire family. ![]() The story of The Lion King should be familiar as the 1994 Disney movie with music from the legendary Elton John is amongst the most beloved the company has ever released. Be sure to keep an eye on ImmortalSeats if your city isn’t on the current touring list, as the final dates for 2023 and cities for 2024 will be announced later this year. A full list of tour dates can be found at the end of this blog, with the last announced – but certainly not the last ever – set of shows currently announced being at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from August 16 to September 3 this year. The Lion King is coming to the end of its run in Chicago, Illinois at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, with its next stop set to be at the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas from January 18 through January 29. Amazingly, The Lion King shows no signs of slowing down, with it pulling on $4.3 million for the week ending January 1, 2023, the largest weekly gross in the history of Broadway.Īlong with the long-running show in New York, there is also a traveling tour that hits major cities across North America.
